    Evacuation routes are marked with blue signs that direct you along the safest routes out of the area. Some roads flood quickly an should be avoided so it is best advised that you stay on roadways containing the marked 'Evacuation Route" signs.

    From the Onslow County portion of Topsail Island, (the northern end), use NC Highway 210 to US Highway 17. From here you can go north to Jacksonville and stay in a motel or continue inland on NC Highway 53 towards Burgaw or take US Highway 24/258 to Kinston.

    From the Pender County portion of Topsail Island, (the southern end), use NC Highway 50 to US Highway 17. From here you can continue on NC Highway 50 west or take US Highway 17 north to Jacksonville, or south to Wilmington where you can pick up Interstate 40 west.
