This is only a "suggested" list of locally available, non-perishable foods for hurricane or other natural disasters. Use this list as a base to build your own "Emergency Provisions" list. Substitute items on this list that you may not like, or are unavailable where you live, for readily available items that you will eat. The new "Boxed Dinners" being offered by most of the manufacturers, (Betty Crocker, Hormel, Dinty Moore, etc), make excellent choices for the "Emergency Stash".
Keep a two-week supply of all basic foods on hand. Replace these goods every six months. A excellent alternative is dehydrated foods, they are 60% to 80% lighter in weight and actually have a much longer shelf life than canned goods.
Lists below are calculated for a couple, (two people), increase accordingly for larger groups, (ie, x2 for four people, x2.5 for five people, x3 for six, etc).

Cooks in 30 minutes, includes everything needed, meat, starch, vegetables. Some varieties may require a cup of water to mix into the enclosed batters. 5 to 10 minutes prep time. Fast Easy Simple!! | ||
We now keep ten to fifteen of the new "Boxed Dinners" offered by, Betty Crocker, Hormel & Dinty Moore. Each make several varieties that are satisfying to the palate, filled our stomachs and are easy to prepare. Each are basically open the enclosed cans, pour into dish, and either open the topping and sprinkle or mix the packet in a bowl with water and then spread over the top of the ingredients in the dish, and both methods bake at 325 to 350 for 30 minutes. Figure about $3.50 to $4.50 per box, depending on where and when you do your shopping. Expect to pay even more if you wait until the storm watches or warnings are issued before you shop for these items.

Other items you can store easily in advance include; bouillon cubes, your favorite spices, olive oil, a box of salt, a can of pepper, some cooking utensils and a wash bowl or bucket.
